You'll never want to leave this 12,000 square foot open air, tropical Villa. Many of your questions regarding your visit will be answered below. We realize that you may have questions not addressed here and encourage you to contact us for your specific inquiries.


How can I make a reservation for Villa Paraiso?

Villa Paraiso is a privately owned home made available by the owner for several weeks per year for the purpose of fund raising events for charity and community sponsors. The ONLY way you may make a reservation for Villa Paraiso is to win a vacation trip through your local fund raiser or charity. If you are interested in offering Villa Paraiso at a future event, please contact us for details.

What is the best time of year to stay at Villa Paraiso?

Scott highly recommends September through December. These months directly follow the Summer showers and everything is in full bloom and a gorgeous time in the LaPunta Community. "The flowers are amazing and the weather is absolutely spectacular" according to Scott. Keep in mind that the final auction value must have exceeded $11,000 to qualify for a reservation during this time of year. If you qualify, this IS the time to book.

How many bedrooms are available and how many people will Villa Paraiso comfortably accommodate?

Although Villa Paraiso is a 6-suite home, the auction value will reserve 4 suites as follows: 4-king suites which will accommodate up to 8 guests comfortably. There are an additional 2 king suites available for larger parties of up to 12 people at an additional cost per suite per week. Additional King Suites can be reserved at an additional cost of $2000 Per Suite per reservation. If you would like to add one or both additional suites to your reservation we require payment received 30 days in advance of your arrival date for each additional suite. Villa Paraiso can accommodate a MAXIMUM of 12 people when the 2 additional king suites are reserved. There are no "roll-away" beds available and sleeping on the furniture (sofas/chairs) or floors is not allowed. Please contact us if you have any additional questions on reservations.

How many bedrooms are provided with the Auction Package?

The auction package provides the use of 4 Suites at the Villa. All rooms at Villa Paraiso are premium King Suits all with a private bath. Please note that THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY, EITHER WRITTEN, ORAL OR OTHERWISE. Your reservation can be upgraded to include up to 2 additional King Suites at an additional charge of $2000 per suite, per week above the final auction bid cost. Reservations for the additional king Suites must be requested directly to Villa Paraiso via email at least 45 days prior to your arrival date and payment in full for the additional King Suites must be received 30 days prior to your arrival at the Villa.

Didn't Villa Paraiso previously accommodate more than 8 guests with the standard auction package?

Prior to November, 2010, two of the bedrooms at Villa Paraiso contained 2, queen size beds. In October 2010, the owners of the Villa upgraded the private bathrooms to modernize the facilities. At that time, the queen beds in 2 of the suites were removed and each room refitted with a new king bed. Presently, all rooms at Villa Paraiso are modern premium king suites with updated attached bathrooms. For this reason, the standard auction package can now accommodate a total of 8 guests. For larger groups of up to 12 guests, please see how to upgrade your reservation.

How can I upgrade my reservation to include additional King Suites?

Although Villa Paraiso is a 6-Suite Villa, the Auction Package will provide reservations for 4 of the suites at the Villa. All suites at Villa Paraiso are fitted with KING SIZE BEDS. It is our desire to provide each of our guests with a high level of quality service by our staff during your stay. You may upgrade your reservation to include one or both of the extra King Suites at an additional charge to your winning auction bid. The cost of per King Suite is $2,000 per week for each additional King Suite upgrade to your reservation. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS TO THIS POLICY. Please email us with your upgrade request at least 45 days prior to your arrival date to confirm your upgrade reservation. Payment for your upgrade will be made directly to Villa Paraiso and must be received 30 days prior to your arrival at the Villa.

What time zone is Manzanillo, Mexico in?

Manzanillo is located within the Central Time Zone. The time in Chicago or Houston will be the same time at Villa Paraiso, only the time will pass much slower at the Villa!

Are passports required to travel to Villa Paraiso?

YES. Each person traveling to Mexico by air is required to have a current passport. You will be required to complete an immigration form during your flight to Mexico, and will need to know your local address for your visit. You will be required to clear Mexican Customs using your passport and completed immigration form upon your arrival. Please note the Villa address above.

Is there a safe at Villa Paraiso for guest use?

Yes, included within each guest suite is a safe for your use during your visit to Villa Paraiso. The house manager will assign you the combination to your suite safe upon your arrival at the Villa.

Will my cell phone work during my stay at Villa Paraiso?

There is excellent Cellular Service throughout the Manzanillo area. However, you should contact your cellular provider prior to your departure to discuss your options for using your cell phone service while in Mexico. Note- to call the USA from Mexico, dial 001, then the area code, then number.

What is the voltage at Villa Paraiso, and will my electric and electronic devices work there?

All outlets at Villa Paraiso are standard 110 volt outlets just like the USA. Your electric and electronic devices will work at the Villa as at home.

Should I obtain Mexican currency for my visit or can I use US currency?

Both US Dollars and Mexican Pesos are accepted nearly everywhere in the Manzanillo area. Additionally, there are ATM machines and local banks where cash (Pesos)can be obtained. Please note that credit cards are not as universally accepted everywhere as in the US. Many activities and establishments may require cash only (US$ or Pesos) rather than credit cards.

How do I get to Villa Paraiso?

First, you need to get yourself to Manzanillo airport. The airport code to book your flight is ZLO, and Continental Airlines offers direct flights into ZLO from Houston and possibly other cities. Check with your travel agent for flight selection. Please send us your flight information and we can make reservations for your transportation to the Villa from Manzanillo Airport. Although transportation is not inclusive with your reservation, we can arrange comfortable and dependable transport for your party, both to and from Manzanillo airport. Either way, we will require the names of each person in your group and their arrival plans to provide to LaPunta Security for entrance into the community. Please see "Transportation & Attractions" for more detailed information regarding airport transportation.

What options are there for local transportation?

Most visitors to Villa Paraiso prefer not to rent a car for their entire stay. Although car rental by the week or day is an option, our local staff can arrange private transportation for you and your guests throughout the week, and it is often preferred to dealing with travel directions and parking at your destinations. Our staff can arrange for your personal transportation at a very reasonable cost for quick trips, full day excursions, and/or site seeing adventures. Inquire with us prior to your trip and we'll make sure your transportation requirements are handled. What's the weather like and what kind of clothes should I bring?

The weather in Manzanillo will range between 80F - 88F year round, with high humidity during the Summer months, and cooler evenings during the Winter months. Manzanillo is a very casual atmosphere, so you won't need a coat and tie, and may get by without long slacks. We suggest that you pack light and bring a couple bathing suits (or more) for various water activities. There are washers and dryers available for your use during your stay.

What entertainment systems are available at the Villa?

Villa Paraiso is equipped with a stereo system with CD player, i-Pod stereo dock, DVD player, VCR, and satellite TV receiver. Additionally, the Villa is equipped with a WiFi wireless Internet service, and a printer and fax machine is available for your use. Please bring your favorite CD's and/or your i-Pod. A word of CAUTION: LaPunta is a peaceful open air community. Please respect everyone's desire to co-exist in paradise by keeping sound and music to a minimum level. Should your group receive a complaint from the LaPunta Administration, FINES WILL BE ASSESSED, UP TO REMOVAL FROM THE PROPERTY AND THE LaPUNTA COMMUNITY. Please be respectful of others right to enjoy the peaceful surroundings.

What about sound restrictions in the LaPunta Community?

LaPunta is one of the most exclusive private residential communities in all of Mexico. As such, the villa owners in the community expect to enjoy the tranquil surroundings including the natural sounds of the environment. Although sound and stereo equipment is available for your use, the sound level must be strictly controlled as not to disrupt the natural sound environment of the community. During your stay with us, should your group receive a noise complaint from the LaPunta Administration, fines will be assessed as follows: FIRST WARNING $100, SECOND WARNING $500, FINAL COMPLAINT IS REJECTION FROM THE VILLA AND THE LaPUNTA COMMUNITY. Please respect everyone's right to enjoy the peaceful surroundings offered at the Villa.

What days of the week are available for reservations and what is the check-in and check-out time?

All reservations are for a Saturday to Saturday stay. As the Villa is on a very active demand schedule, we ask you to plan your arrival after 2:00 PM (CST) to ensure the Villa is ready to receive you and your guests. Additionally, in order to prepare for the next arrivals, we ask that your party is prepared to depart the Villa at 10:00 AM on the day of your departure. Please note that reservations for holiday weeks are excluded from availability unless certain conditions of the auction are met. Please contact us for further information regarding reservations for holiday periods.

How much should I plan for food & beverage cost for my stay?

For moderate to normal consumption, our guests have typically budgeted approximately $500-$600 (US) per couple, per week for meals and beverages. Consequently, your actual cost will depend upon your consumption. If you have a special request for a menu item or beverage, our staff will make every attempt to fill your request based upon local availability. Our chef has prepared a superb selection of meals for your choice during your stay. If you have special dietary needs or would like specific items available for your visit, please let us know.

What is typical for gratuity for the Villa Paraiso staff, and what is customary in local restaurants and services.

You will find the service at Villa Paraiso "second to none", and therefore please remember that our staff will be serving you from morning to night, everyday. A minimum tip of $80-100 (US) per guest, per week is not only appreciated, but very much expected (including for children). Please show your appreciation to our house staff with a generous gratuity for their efforts. Elsewhere around Manzanillo, gratuity levels are similar to those customary in the USA for similar services.

Is there a facility available for laundry?

There are washing machines and dryers available at Villa Paraiso for your use during your visit. However, the machines will be unavailable to guests on the day of departure. Additionally, dry cleaning is available locally and the house manager can arrange for your service.
